Magnetic Labyrinth 2004

This exhibit prototype consists of 2, 5" diameter cells containing a ferrofluid constrained between 2 pieces of glass seperated by only .049".

These 2 cells are backlit by a 1" thick light table. The visitor holds a tethered magnet beneath the table to make the ferrofluid turn from a uniform circular blob to a convoluted labyrinth pattern.
